WHAT IS THROTTLE LAG?

Modern trucks, including the one-ton heavy-duty Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD, use drive-by-wire throttle systems. The system replaces the mechanical connection between the gas pedal and the throttle valve with sensors and actuators. When you press down the gas pedal, the pedal position sensor sends a signal to the ECU, which then decides when and how much to open the throttle valve. The process is delayed to meet emissions regulations, efficiency targets, and to make the truck suitable for the widest possible range of drivers. The delay is called throttle lag.

The Pedal Commander® throttle response controller remaps the factory throttle signal by connecting to the pedal position sensor and intercepting the stock signal. It uses a Silverado-specific calibration to eliminate the throttle lag. The unit also offers 4 modes and 36 settings to dial in the throttle response you need.

The basic steps of the Pedal Commander® installation are always the same regardless of the vehicle's make and model:

Turn off the ignition and wait 10-15 minutes with your driver's door open to allow your ECU to shut down.

Disconnect your accelerator pedal assembly plug, then plug in the heads to connectors on the Pedal Commander® harness.

Clean up the area where you want to mount the control unit with the alcohol wipe. Stick the bracket with the supplied velcro.

After you make sure the cables are secure and won't be tangled, you are ready to enjoy Pedal Commander®.

Install was literally plug and play. Follow instructions and literally a 2 or 3 min install and I am no mechanic at all in fact I hate mechanic or electrical work. But this is super easy anyone can do it. First time use I wanted to crank it up and see what it was all about. I was shocked that something so simple and easy to install could make such a difference. I installed this on my 2012 Chevy Silverado 3500HD 6.0 gas. It has give the truck a totally new feel. No more pulling out and feeling like I have no power at all. It’s hard to explain. But for the price it’s definitely worth it. I just downloaded the app. Pretty neat that you can lock it from the app so IF you had someone else driving your vehicle you could set it and not have to worry about it. Not much info on the app. But it seems to connect and work good and is pretty straight forward. It works using Bluetooth and I haven’t had any issues with connecting or anything. Over all I’m well satisfied.

On my 2017 Silverado 3500hd the throttle response was very delayed and acceleration at highway speeds always required a very deep pedal press. The truck would feel sluggish so I installed the Pedal Commander to help and it definitely did! The truck now drives like a much lighter vehicle and it is definitely more enjoyable. It should drive this way from the factory, I really do question why the original throttle response is so slow. I’ve had it installed for about a week now and no problems, I am happy with the purchase.
