The Polestar 2 is a fastback electric sedan that blends Scandinavian minimalism with genuine performance credentials. It is available in single and dual-motor configurations with up to 476 HP and a 0–60 time of just over 4 seconds. It's a driver-focused EV, but the factory drive-by-wire system is dulled down, making the pedal response lazy.

The Pedal Commander® accelerator response controller is the best aftermarket upgrade for your Polestar 2 to address the lazy pedal response. It remaps the drive-by-wire signal without interfering with the ECU or changing anything permanently on the car to eliminate the delayed response. Pedal Commander® gives you 4 modes (Range+, City, Dynamic, and Hyper) with nine levels for each, so you get to customize the power delivery with 36 settings. On top of that, the built-in Anti-Theft feature allows you to disable the pedal completely, adding another layer of security to your Polestar when it’s parked on remote areas.

WHAT IS ACCELERATION LAG?

By design, EVs are infinitely responsive and deliver their full power and torque from the get-go. But manufacturers detune that responsiveness by intentionally delaying that “get-go.” Electric vehicles use the exact drive-by-wire technology as ICE cars, and the accelerator pedal signal is programmed to be smooth and dull, resulting in a noticeable “dead zone” at the first inches of pedal travel. Even though the Polestar 2 boasts powerful electric motors, the initial take off is delayed and unresponsive.

This is where the Pedal Commander® accelerator response controller comes in. It is the ultimate fix for the factory delay, and the best plug-and-play aftermarket upgrade for your Polestar 2. The Pedal Commander® accelerator response controller connects in line with the drive-by-wire pedal position sensor. It intercepts the signal and remaps the calibration with Polestar-specific software. It removes all restrictions and eliminates the dead-zone feel. You get four modes (Range+, City, Dynamic, and Hyper), each with nine fine-tuning levels, so you can dial in the response however you want.

From instant and linear response in everyday driving in City mode, all the way up to Hyper which delivers raw and instant power to unlock all your Polestar has to give, you have total control over the power delivery. The basic steps of the Pedal Commander® installation are always the same regardless of the vehicle's make and model:

Turn off the ignition and wait 10-15 minutes with your driver's door open to allow your ECU to shut down.

Disconnect your accelerator pedal assembly plug, then plug in the heads to connectors on the Pedal Commander® harness.

Clean up the area where you want to mount the control unit with the alcohol wipe. Stick the bracket with the supplied velcro.

After you make sure the cables are secure and won't be tangled, you are ready to enjoy Pedal Commander®.
